If you have been eyeing a new phablet that is robust and boasts top-end specs then your search will end with the Android variant of the Alcatel Idol 4S.

The device released in the United States in July for $399.99 and those preordering the Idol 4S would have snagged the handset for $349.99 with a VR headset, glass coque Huawei Ascend Y541 screen protector and protective case thrown in for free.

The smartphone is now available from Alcatel for $399.99 and you get the VR headset, a phone case and JBL headphones for free. By comparison, the Windows 10 variant of the device is $500.

This offer is courtesy of Amazon and for the unlocked variant of the Idol 4S, which is compatible with GSM/LTE carriers. This means that the handset will work with T-Mobile and etui Huawei Ascend Y540 AT&T but not Verizon and Sprint which are CDMA/LTE.

Difference Between Android And Windows Versions?

The unlocked Android-powered variant of the Idol 4S smartphone houses a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED screen (2560 x 1440 pixels) unlike its Windows-powered counterpart, which has a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The phablet also houses an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor and 3 GB of RAM, unlike the Windows variant which has a Snapdragon 820 CPU and 4 GB of RAM. The Android coque Huawei Ascend Y330 variant of the Alcatel smartphone has Adreno 510 GPU vis-à-vis the Adreno 530 GPU on the Windows 10 version of the handset.

The Android version of the smartphone has a 16-megapixel primary camera, whereas the Windows variant has a 21-megapixel one. Both variants of the Idol 4S have a 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge.

The selfie snapper on the Windows 10 and Android version of the Idol 4S is the same — an 8-megapixel one.

When it comes to storage capabilities, the Android version of the handset offers 32 GB that can be expanded to a maximum of 256 GB via a microSD card. The Windows version of the handset has 64 GB storage capability, which is expandable to 128 GB.

Lastly, the Android variant comes with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow running out of the box. The T-Mobile exclusive variant of the Idol 4S comes preloaded with Windows 10 and has hit the shelves on Nov. 10. This model is priced at $469.99 and comes with a free VR headset.
